Local businessman Akhtar Kasia Ink4u takes up the chair of Dewsbury Retail Forum

Akhtar Kasia is a local entrepreneur, who owns the Dewsbury town centre business Ink 4 U.

He is man who is full of energy and ideas. Joining the Retail Forum only a few months ago, Akhtar's impact was immediate.

When the previous Chair, Wendy White the manager of Boots stepped down, Akhar's name was put forward as her replacement.

The nominations were put to the vote and Akhtar was formally elected at a meeting on 18th November. Lisa Whitlock (Subway) and Gemma Barua (The Time Piece) were voted in as joint Deputy Chairs.

These three people represent a national business, a franchise and an independent local business, giving them insight into the challenges that face businesses "across the board" in Dewsbury town centre.

Akhtar expressed his thanks for being voted in and said that he hoped that he would be able to lead the Retail Forum and town centre in a positive way.

His intention is to get more business involvement and he stated that he will take a very active role and will push for more business people to attend the meetings and join the Dewsbury Retail Forum.
